His Latin Name Was Carolus Linnaeus
...and he was the inventor of a system of binomial
nomenclature for the classification of species of plants that used this
classical language. Today, the Linnaean taxonomic system has been extended to
all types of organisms and though there have been competing systems, none has
yet supplanted the one introduced by this Swedish botanist. This photopainting
was produced at the Botanical Garden near Chicago and in my Studio A in Wheaton,
Illinois.
You can see the delight and joy on Linnaeus' face as he
reaches for a small lichen. God's joy is infinitely greater when He reaches out
to us, not to take us or pick us up, but to give to us His massive and limitless
bounty.

George has been
effective in forcing the Episcopal Church in the U.S.A. (ECUSA)
to more vigorously defend itself for its insistence on ordaining gay priests,
installing practicing gay bishops and blessing gay marriages without the
consensus blessing of the rest of the worldwide Anglican Community. He
has also had a leadership role in establishing the Anglican Church of North
America (ACNA) which is in the process of forming diocesan
regions throughout the continent. It is ACNA's goal to eventually replace
ECUSA as the only recognized Anglican Church province in
America. Right now, ECUSA has been declared to be "out of communion"
with the rest of the worldwide Anglican Church and it still refuses to
recant and suspend its "unscriptural" behavior.
When the older members of ECUSA pass away or leave this
church, ECUSA will become
known as "The Gay Church", which is fine. Hooray. But their position and
attitude has sparked a backlash that will become tantamount to a new reformation
in the entire Christian Church. This neoreformation resists the
revisionistic tendency of some contemporary clergy to reinterpret scripture for
convenience and to conduct searches for scriptural passages that may reinforce
their views if properly interpreted in their self-serving contorted way.
